The Women Back to Work Programme, launched in June 2015, supports unemployed women aged 30 to 60 in rejoining the workforce and offering a two-year placement with a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000. Additionally, the Ministry provides specialised training through the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD) in various fields such as hairdressing, beauty therapy, bakery, early childhood education, elderly care, flower arrangement, gardening, and basic IT skills to further enhance women's employability and economic participation.

                          a)  Eligibility Criteria:
  •                                 > Unemployed women
  •                                 > Aged 30 and above but below 60
  •                                 > Be registered as unemployed at the Employment Information Centre (EIC)
  •                                 
         
                          b)  Stipend: Rs 15,000/month for placement and a one โ€“off stipend of Rs 15,000 at the end of successful course completion

Candidates must register at the nearest Employment Information Centre to obtain an Occupational Classification Number (OCN).

Employers must submit their requests to the Training Programme Unit of the Ministry via email at nedtpu@govmu.org
