About National Employment Department

The National Employment Department (NED) is established by the National Employment Act 2017.

The core mandate involves registering and guiding jobseekers, including laid-off workers, toward employment opportunities through referrals, training, and career counselling. The division also conducts labour market surveys, canvasses employers for vacancies and training collaboration, disseminates employment-related information and statistics, monitors training programmes, regulates recruitment practices, and leads outreach and employability enhancement initiatives, including workshops and job fairs. The NED has under its purview 13 Employment Information Centres (EICs) scattered round the island for better reaching out of jobseekers.

About Employment Information Centre (EICS)

Employment Information Centres (EICs) are responsible for registering and placing jobseekers, processing vacancies via LMIS and Mauritiusjobs Platform, offering personalised career counselling and follow-up, and conducting labour market analysis and surveys. They facilitate employment through job canvassing, job dating, and workshops, manage redeployment of laid-off workers, carry out permit and recruitment inspections, and disseminate labour market information while actively participating in job fairs and outreach initiatives.

The 13 EICs are located in various regions of Mauritius including Triolet, Goodlands, Riviere du Rempart, Rose Belle, Mahebourg, Riviere des Anguilles, Quartier Militaire, Central Flacq, Port Louis, Curepipe, Vacoas, Quatre Bornes and Rose Hill.  Additionally, one EIC operates in Rodrigues under the Rodrigues Regional Assembly.

Employment Outreach Initiatives

The National Employment Department (NED) connects jobseekers with employers and disseminates labour market information through the 13 Employment Information Centres (EICs) nationwide. NED also offers proximity service delivery through "Job Dating", thereby facilitating on-site interviews and selections. Furthermore, NED advertises vacancies on the Mauritiusjobs platform accessible on https://mauritiusjobs.govmu.org/ .

Nou Travay Nou Lavenir

The TV/Radio programme "Magazine de L’Emploi et des MĂ©tiers" has been revamped and is entitled “Nou Travay Nou Lavenir,”.  The programme was officially launched on 09 February 2026 by the Honorable Minister of Labour and Industrial Relations. This programme serves as an important platform for dissemination of information on labour market trends, job openings, and career opportunities.

Vacancies and Reportages are shared on MBC Digital Platforms including YouTube, MBC Website and Facebook amongst others. To further improve awareness and access to available vacancies and promote employment opportunities, a new feature has been introduced whereby a QR code is displayed at the end of each broadcast. This allows viewers, particularly young people, to conveniently access the MauritiusJobs website, where they can register as jobseekers, explore current vacancies, and obtain additional information on the Ministry’s activities.
