National Employment Policy

About National Employment Policy​


In line with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention No. 122, the National Employment Policy 2024-2028 (NEP) for Mauritius was formulated by the University of Mauritius after consultation with all stakeholders and under the guidance of ILO. The objective was  to achieve decent, productive and freely chosen employment for all people of the Republic of Mauritius to improve their livelihoods and dignity. The NEP has identified the following four policy priorities which would address the expressed needs, expectations and priorities for employment promotion:  

  1.                   a. Stimulate Employment Growth in Emerging and Sunset Sectors;
  2.                   b. Address Education and Skills Mismatch and Labour Shortage;
  3.                   c. Strengthen Labour Market Policies and Institutions;
  4.                   d. Promote Quality Employment: Decent Work and Social Inclusion.
